About Protection One
Protection One got its start in 1863 when the telegraph machine was invented for the express purpose of communicating with the stock floor in the stock market. After a home invasion it occurred to one Edward Calahan that this same technology could be used to create a way for the community to alert their neighbors in the event of a break-in, leading Calahan to connect 50 homes to a central station that would receive notification in the event of a burglary, fire, or another catastrophe. This led to ADT being formed 11 years later in 1874, and now, over 150 years later the company has created subsidiaries like Protection One that help home-owners get the security they need to protect themselves and their families.
