About Kohler

In 1873 a corporation was founded by the combined efforts of Charles Silberzahn and Michael Kohler, that company would be the Eponymous Kohler Co. and started in the most unexpected of purchases.  Unexpected, that is, for a company renowned for its household décor lines.  Under their leadership the Sheboygan Union Iron and Steel Foundry would start its life to produce steel farm implements, cemetery crosses, cast iron, and castings for furniture factories.  So what profound event turned this heavily industrial company into one primarily known for its plumbing and bathroom accessories?
