About O’Reilly Auto Parts
O’Reilly Auto Parts sells aftermarket parts, tools, supplies, equipment, and accessories for vehicles. The O’Reilly family opened their first location in 1957.
The son and grandson of an immigrant founded the auto parts store. Charles Francis O’Reilly and his son Chub learned about the business while working for Link Motor Supply in St. Louis. In 1957 when Charles was 72, Link asked Charles to retire and Chub to move to Kansas City. The O’Reilly men did not agree with this plan and decided to open their own business.
Their first store in Springfield had 13 employees. They quickly expanded throughout Missouri. In 1998, O’Reilly purchased Hi/LO Auto Supply. This added stores in Texas and Louisiana. In 2001, they bought Mid-State Automotive Distributors, Inc. In 2005, they purchased Midwest Automotive Distributors, Inc. Their biggest purchase was CSK Auto. This purchase alone added 1,273 stores. O’Reilly continues to buy other companies and grow on their own. There are over 5,000 O’Reilly locations in all 50 states.
