About RCA
In 1899 a company was established under the name Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company of America, though it was colloquially known merely as American Marconi. This company was an extension of the British Marconi company and was established to hold the patents for Guglielmo Marconi’s wireless telegraphy patents. This company took over another American company known as the United Wireless Telegraph Company and would become RCA, or the Radio Corporation of America in 1921 under the ownership of General Electric. 12 years later would see RCA moving into the 30 Rockefeller Plaza building that would become known as the RCA building.
This company would grow and expand throughout the years to follow, getting involved with radio broadcasting, as well as the creation of numerous forms of media transmission and viewing devices. RCA was the first name in VHS players back in the prime of that technologies life, and now it produces laptops, video players, and much more.
