About Old Navy Credit Card

The Dayton-Hudson Corporation, the parent company of Gap, sought to create a less expensive brand in the early 1990s. The original concept was manifested as the Gap Warehouse, first presented in existing Gap locations in 1993. The Gap Warehouse brand took off and would be rebranded as Old Navy Clothing Co. to separate it from its Gap Inc. roots. These new stores were designed to be approximately 15,000 sq ft, significantly larger than its Gap parent companies. The first Old Navy store opened in San Leandro, Colma, and Pittsburg in Northern California with a design inspiration based on grocery stores. The brand would prove to be so successful that it would start a child and youth-focused chain known as Old Navy Kids in 1997. Today, Old Navy is a respected multinational brand. The Old Navy Credit Card was released to provide a branded credit line to loyal customers of Old Navy.
