About LEGO
Lego was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen from Denmark. A carpenter by trade Christiansen turned his love of children and wood into wooden toys that were loved by the children that received them. In 1947 the first plastic toys were to come out of the LEGO workshop, but it wouldn’t be until 1949 that the iconic LEGO toy would first come into the world. At the time they were called “Automatic Binding Bricks,” and took advantage of the new injection molding techniques that had come into the market.
Christiansen firmly believed that quality was the foundation of any good product, and the companies motto “The Best Is Never Too Good” remains the driving force behind the companies products. In 1954 this philosophy turned a perceived disadvantage (there was no love of plastic at the time) into an advantage, as the quality of his toys remained remarkably high. Today the LEGO name has been tied to video games, to toys, certain kinds of candy, and even movies. The world loves LEGO, and it powers creativity.
