As of 2006, 90% of the Mexican population could receive coverage from Telcel’s services. As of 2011, Telcel reported that it had 66.9 million subscribers. This makes up 80% of cellular service customers.
Telcel has prepaid and postpaid services. Prepaid customers purchase a card for a certain amount of talk time. New customers are given an Amigo Kit, which includes the handset, charger, and airtime.
