About First National Bank
First National Bank of Omaha has a history that stretches back as far as the state itself, owing its existence to Thomas Davis, a man who helped the city come into being by paying the $600 necessary for an official state charter in gold dust. Sometime later he was part of the Board of Directors for First National Bank. Throughout its history it’s been known for innovation, including being the first to explicitly target women’s banking needs by providing an entire department dedicated to accounts just for them, complete with female staffers and a setting that was far plusher than the typical bank. As a result, banking became a common practice among women. Today they are the single largest privately held bank in the country, holding over $17 billion worth of assets and employing over 5,000 people.
